Connecting With the People of Togo ~ John Novotny

GPiH Board member John Novotny reflected on his week in Togo, encouraged by all the great work being done there. Here is what he had to say about the trip:

“The Togolese people are a wonderful example of human kindness. Every step of the way, we were greeted by locals that were truly engaged with trying to improve the welfare of their country. They are yearning to go to the next level on many frontiers, and it is an honor to be a small part of the process. The major areas of concentration for our recent team was to continue development of relationships for medical care, safe stoves, fresh deep water wells and agriculture. Also, the visit to the orphanage was one of the highlights of the trip, and a great example of how one can be effectively managed. I am confident that the Togolese will continue to evolve into the self-sustaining people they want to be, and the transition will be done with honor and dignity. The partnership with Compassion is second to none.”

While in Togo, the GPiH team visited many villages in Togo looking for new opportunities to grow the community through the implementation of water wells, distribution of stoves, and overall medical care. But of course the most meaningful projects our team finds is the ability to connect with the people of Togo.
