What was once just a dream in Togo, West Africa, is now a reality. The brand new surgical center is finished, fully equipped, and already changing lives. The first surgeries have been completed—marking a historic step forward for the community and the whole region.

In June, a team of experienced nurses and surgeons traveled to Agbelouve to help bring this vision to life. Working alongside local Togolese doctors and under the leadership of Dr. Coleen Stice and Dr. Roalene Redland, the team performed the very first surgeries in this community. It is a major step forward for thousands of people who have had little or no access to surgical care until now.

Throughout their time in Agbelouve, the team provided not only world-class medical expertise but also compassionate and attentive care for the patients — reflecting a deep commitment to dignity, healing, and hope.
Dr. Stice shared her awe at the new facility:
“The operating room is magnificent, fully equipped with advanced technology that left the Togolese doctors and community speechless. It’s more than a building; it’s a beacon of hope, serving not only Agbelouve but also patients traveling from as far as Lomé.”
This state-of-the-art facility features two operating rooms, C-section capability, anesthesia, oxygen, lab space, and equipment for laparoscopic and emergency surgeries. In a region where access to even clean water was once scarce, it now stands as one of the most advanced health centers in the area — offering life-saving care to families who need it most.

And this is only the beginning. With a newly paved road leading to the center and preparations underway for its formal dedication, this milestone represents the power of partnership and the promise of a healthier future for Togo.
