Because of You

We would like to share stories from the people we have impacted and partnered with across West Africa. For years, we have walked alongside these communities, building hospitals and water wells on land they identified and generously allocated. Throughout this journey, we have moved forward together, with your help. This month, we are honored to share these impact stories in their own voices, reflecting what our partners want you to know.

Marc Edah, General Secretary of the NGO La Rescousse in Benin, described the reality many faced: “People were going through a very difficult time. They didn’t even have enough drinking water… they were relying on rainwater, often polluted and unsafe, and that water was not good for the body.” But that’s no longer the story, because of you. “When GPiH came, everything changed. “People no longer  struggle to find water… and the illnesses linked to water have decreased a lot.” This is the ripple effect of your generosity.

That same impact reaches mothers like Jamila from the village of Agbelouvé, who remembers the past fear and uncertainty of her pregnancy. This time, her experience was different.

“Ever since I was first pregnant, I’ve been truly cared for,” she shared. “They’ve taken such good care of both me and my baby,I haven’t gone without anything. They provided everything for my baby… clothes, soap, everything. May God bless those who are helping us.” Jamila’s pregnancy, because of your support, has become one of joy and excitement.

For others, your generosity has meant the difference between life and death. One patient, facing a severe heart condition, had nearly given up. “I was losing hope…”, he shared. But through access to healthcare, everything changed. “They took me to the hospital, paid for my surgery, and covered all my medical expenses. They didn’t just help with the operation, they gave me food and medicine so I could recover.” Today, his voice is filled with strength:

“Look at me now, I am healthy. I can breathe. I can live my life again. You have saved my life.”

These are not just stories, they are the direct result of your compassion in action. Because of you, communities across West Africa are no longer defined by lack, but by resilience, health, and hope. Clean water is flowing. Mothers are thriving. Lives are being saved. And through every story, one truth remains clear: you are the reason this is possible.
