Since 2010, Journey Church in Gretna has been a dedicated partner of Global Partners in Hope. Their support extends beyond financial contributions, as they actively engage in hands-on efforts to bring life-changing resources to underserved communities in French-speaking West Africa.

Journey Church has been instrumental in funding and supporting the construction of medical facilities in Agbelouve, making sure that more people have access to critical healthcare services. Their commitment to GPiH is further demonstrated through initiatives like the Giving Tree, which, during December, helped support GPiH’s Safe Baby Delivery Campaign, our year-long program aimed at improving maternal and infant care.

In addition to their contributions, several members of Journey Church have participated in GPiH vision trips to Togo, assisting with medical training and community outreach. Most recently, two members of the church, Kara and Heather Johnson, went on a transformative journey to Togo. Kara, a nurse educator at CHI Immanuel Hospital, brought her expertise to the field, while her daughter, Heather, who aspires to study sonography, gained firsthand experience in global healthcare.

Reflecting on the experience, Kara shared:

“The impact that GPiH has had on the community is amazing. You can see that they are trusted because people seek them out for medical advice and care. It’s been incredible to witness the structure they’ve built and sustained to support the needs of the people.”

She added, “I feel honored that we have been able to share God’s love and see the healing that’s happening here.”

Heather also expressed the profound impact of GPiH’s work: “I had the incredible opportunity to see firsthand the work that God is doing there. I was able to do several ultrasounds on pregnant women and guide the nurses on how to perform them. The community is so caring and loving, I felt welcomed and at home during every moment of the trip."

Through their unwavering support, Journey Church continues to play a vital role in advancing GPiH’s mission to provide sustainable healthcare solutions in West Africa. Their dedication has not only transformed lives but also fostered lasting relationships within the communities we serve. As we move forward, we are inspired by their commitment and the incredible impact they are making. Together, we are bringing hope, healing, and sustainable change to those who need it most. Thank you, Journey Church!
